A Beautiful Portrait Series Of The Dogs Who Served In 9/11

Three years ago, Netherlands-based photographer Charlotte Dumas decided to embark on a photo project to capture the rescue dogs that served during 9/11.

The result of her work is a photo series titled ‘Retrieved’, where captures beautiful portraits of the dogs who served to find survivors in the rubble of the twin towers and the Pentagon on that dreadful day in U.S. history.

Dumas’ writes on her website: “These animals were all at the same place at the same time, one decade ago, for the same reason: to work, That experience unites them, and was the incentive for me to pursue this subject and to photograph the dogs."

Through these images, one can see the quiet dignity in the faces of these dogs. They may be retired now, but in the words of Dumas, these dogs “searched and comforted, they gave consolation to anyone involved. Seeing these pictures, I was also comforted. They somehow emanated a spark of hope amidst this scene of destruction."

Many of these dogs live all over the U.S., and Dumas managed to track 15 of them down with the help of FEMA.

McDonald's Japan Sells A Soda So Large That Its Drink Lid Is Made For Two Straws

At McDonald’s Japan, their Jumbo-sized drink is considered so big that its drink lid comes with holes for two straws.

This Jumbo-sized drink is only available for a short time. It is the equivalent of two Medium US sodas.

Have Your Caricature Drawn On A Patty With World's First Ever 'Burger Selfies'

For their client Hellmann’s Mayonnaise, Ogilvy UK created something called ‘Burger Selfies’ to engage with their summer-loving target audience.

A robotic 3D printer arm was created to produce mayonnaise caricatures on burgers. One would need to have their picture taken, and it would be synced with their software, allowing their face to be drawn on a burger patty.

This activation stunt was part of a wider “life hacks” summer campaign for Hellmann’s, which aims to help people enjoy the summer in more simple but pleasurable ways.

BMW Unveils Its Latest Bulletproof Vehicle

At the recently concluded Moscow motor show, automobile company BMW unveiled a bulletproof car. It hopes to win over its security-conscious customers with this armored version of its previous offering.

The X5 Security and X5 Security Plus are the latest editions to BMW's range of security-enhanced vehicles.

Its new X5 sport-utility vehicle is ‘AK-47-proof’. It provides "secure protection against assault" with special steel and reinforced, shatterproof glass for its passenger compartment.

With a solid engine that comprises an eight-cylinder, turbocharged engine generating 450 horsepower that drives all four wheels, it allows a safe and fast exit if you should require it.

BMW’s armored range is not the first of its kind, with Daimler AG and Volkswagen AG already making armored versions of their Mercedes-Benz and Audi cars.

The bulletproof X5 with a reinforced fuel tank and radiator, Kevlar flooring, and run-flat tires cost three to four times the price of a regular model.

Designer Makes Gorgeous Molecular Structure Necklaces Of Common Drugs

Canadian design studio Ahora Silhouettes makes necklaces out of the molecular structures of drugs. This allows people to wear a representation of their preferred narcotic around their neck.

Founded by Tania Hennessy, the Designer Drugs collection includes a six narcotics—from stimulants such as dopamine and LSD, to caffeine and tobacco.

These necklaces are made in stainless steel and finished with a matte black powder coating with a gun-metal chain or uncoated with a silver-plated chain. They are designed on Adobe Illustrator.

Each piece is uniquely represented by simplified representations of their molecular structures. Some pieces, such as the ‘Coffee & Cigarettes’ necklace, are a combination of two molecular structures.

According to Hennessy, "the concept behind Designer Drugs is one of hedonism, indulgence and over-the-top debauchery where, in a fantasy laboratory, both legal and illicit molecular hybrids are created not to be ingested, but worn".

Other pieces in her collection include Spliff, Candy Flipping, Speedball and Tripping Balls, and Overdose, which is an amalgamation of all of the patterns.

Samsung’s New Ad Shows Users Picking The Galaxy Tab S Over The iPad Air

In its latest ad, Samsung USA hit the streets of New York City, finding passers-by to compare its Galaxy Tab S with Apple’s iPad Air.

The people were asked to test out the Galaxy Tab S for its resolution, camera function, dimensions and compare its specs with the iPad Air. After that, they were asked which tablet they preferred, and apparently the Galaxy Tab S won by a landslide.

Is this ad only showing one side of the story?

A Color-Coded Beer Pack That Reminds You To Have Your Daily 'Prescription'

New York-based art director Peter Jostrand has created a kit to remind people to have a ‘daily dose of alcohol’.

The concept is ‘Prescription Beer’, and it features sleek beautiful matter white beer bottles, labeled for each day of the week.

The beer pack is boxed in a paper crate, referencing a daily pill organizer.

Now, don’t you wish a beer prescription was real?

Witty Pictograms Use Shapes And Symbols To Represent Phrases, Movie Titles


Japanese artist Akihiro Mizuuchi, previously featured for his awesome chocolate LEGO blocks, has created a new body of works.

The project titled ‘Designing symbol sayings’, has led him and his art students at Tokoha Gakuen University to turn words into shapes and symbols.

Most of the pictogram designs are based on Japanese idioms, while some represented movie titles.
