Skull Sculptures Made From Melted Vinyl Records

Artist and musician Ted Riederer—inspired by both his passions—creates beautiful sculptures by melting old vinyl records over a plastic skull mold.

The series, called ‘Primal Sound’, is heavily inspired by Rainer Maria Rilke’s essay of the same title.

“In this essay he ponders what sound the coronal suture would make as it closely resembles a sound wave. He proposes that this process of combining what seems like disparate elements initially to create something that the world has never heard, is a model for making good art,” said Riederer.

The vinyl skulls look morbidly beautiful on their own, or stacked up as a pyramid.
