‘Photo Embroidery’: Alternative Perspective On A Traditional Craft





Chilean artist Maria Aparicio Puentes has made embroidery relevant in a new way.



Moving away from the use of the wooden hoop and the usual floral patterns associated with embroidery, Puentes has chosen to bring embroidery and black and white still photography together.



This highlights the striking geometric stitching that characterizes her eclectic and modern style.



Puentes mentioned that her way of art allows her to re-do something that she is not "convinced" by. It also allows her engage in collaging as she works with the different thread densities.
