In Photo Series, A Look Into Plastic Surgery Clinics

Inspired by both a personal struggle with body issues, and a long history in the beauty business—Brooklyn-based photographer Cara Phillips decided to explore the world’s fixation with the physical artifice.

For her series entitled ‘Singular Beauty’, she captures the places and tools that were used to make artificial changes to many—plastic surgery clinics and the instruments of transformation.

From sterile rooms and spot-lit chairs, to liposuction machines and silicon implants, her empty photos give the viewer an ominous notion—subtly hinting the underlying insecurities of those that went under the knife at the locations.
