Designer Creates Typography-Inspired Birdhouses

Studies have shown that there is a sharp decline in the number of house sparrows in urban environments due to number of high-rises and malls sprouting up—which ultimately displaces the birds from their natural habitat.

To combat this problem, designer Nishant Jethi came up with ‘Living Typography’—a project that uses hollow wooden 3D alphabets to make homes for sparrows in urban environments.

Families could display these typography-inspired birdhouses outside their homes as nameplates or house numbers, which also double as a nesting home for sparrows in the concrete jungle.
